About
About Rainforest Mobility
Rainforest Mobility is a small, owner-run business in Victoria, British Columbia that buys used medical and mobility equipment, inspects, cleans and services it, and sells it at a fraction of the cost of new — delivered and set up across Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland.
What we do
We deal in the equipment that lets people be cared for at home: full-electric hospital and adjustable beds, manual and tilt-in-space wheelchairs, power lift chairs, floor and ceiling patient lifts, pressure-relief mattresses, and shower commodes. It comes to us mostly from care homes, clinics and families on the Island whose need has ended. We check it, clean it, fix what needs fixing, and list it with an honest description and a plain price.
We are a one-person operation. That is why the site does most of the talking, why we ask you to use the request form rather than expecting a reply to every enquiry about selling, and why we are careful about what we take in: only the five equipment types we know we can service, store and re-home properly.
How equipment is inspected and serviced
Every item is run through its functions under load — a bed's motors, a lift's actuator and battery, a tilt chair's mechanism, a lift chair's rise and recline — and its frame, hardware, castors, brakes and electrics are checked. Consumables and failed parts are replaced: tyres, batteries, handsets, gas struts, cables. Then it is professionally cleaned and disinfected, including the surfaces nobody sees. What we find goes on the listing, including cosmetic wear. Anything that cannot be made safe, or cannot be properly disinfected, is not sold.
Where we deliver
Across Vancouver Island from Victoria to Campbell River, and across the Lower Mainland from Vancouver to Hope. Delivery includes setup in the room and taking the packaging away, and the price for every area and equipment type is published on the delivery page — from $100 for a small item in Greater Victoria to $450 for a lift chair in Chilliwack.
The Trial Program
For any manual or tilt-in-space wheelchair we bring the chair to the client for a one-hour fitting — measured, adjusted, transferred into and out of — before anyone decides. Most fittings are booked by occupational and physical therapists; anyone can book one. The $150 fee is refunded on purchase. How it works.
Buying equipment
We buy patient lifts, lift chairs, full-electric beds, tilt-in-space wheelchairs and manual wheelchairs from the public, and we never buy power mobility. The sell page explains how.
Listed with Island Health
Rainforest Mobility appears on Island Health's published list of medical equipment vendors for home use, under regional and online suppliers, alongside the Island's established dealers. That list is maintained by the health authority for its clinicians and the public; it is not an endorsement of any vendor, but it is where an occupational therapist or discharge planner looks first.
